How do I get car companies to try my advertising ideas?
Answer:
All major car companies work with an advertising agency and those agencies create all the ideas for the car companies. Some companies use multiple agencies for different regions around the world.
You'd probably need to work for one of the agencies or contact the agencies themselves.
For the most part:
VW and Mini uses Crispin Porter + Bogusky
Toyota is Saatchi and Saatchi
Nissan is Chiat Day
some of Honda is done by Wieden+Kennedy
Chocolate Starfishee is right. I work for a large beer company and I can't tell you how many people call out of the blue wanting to let us know about their "great" ideas. The thing is, we use different creative agencies for each brand. So these folks are barking up the wrong tree entirely.
Frankly, if you have great advertising ideas, you need to work for a creative agency (Starfishee listed several) and get yourself in the position to be able to present those ideas to your clients. Trying to "sell" an unsolicited great creative idea is going to be very taxing for you.
Side note - once you get that job, don't be surprised if many of your great ideas simply don't go over well. Your idea of what will sell their products and their ideas will often be very different. You need to know your clients' objectives well and incorporate your creativity from there.
Chocolate and Reider are right on the mark. I want to add that these larger businesses like car companies work with ad agencies. You may want to apply for a job in advertising with one of their agencies or at least submit your proposals (protecting your ideas however with the patent process - if they are good.they will take them you know?).
Hi, perhaps you can try Google adwords to market your service/product.
Google adwords is a text-based system for advertising on its site and its partner sites. The service allows you to create your own ads, choose keywords to help match your ads to your audience, and control the cost of your advertising—you pay only when people click on your ad (a cost per click plan). Anyone wishing to promote a product on Google can enroll in this program.

Having taken an Advertising 101 class and having watched TV way too much, I understand where you are coming from. One problem with advertising is that everyone can come up with an idea that they feel (and others may agree) would really be great for a company/brand/store/etc. So logistically, if companies fielded ideas from everyone they would never be able to sort through them all.
Second, really great ads are usually the result of a great team on both the client and agency side. In solid companies, the advertising is a final step in a pretty big process that includes: 1) having a very well defined business strategy; 2) having well defined business objectives; 3) developing communications objectives; 4) developing a creative brief with an agency that talks about the communications. And then the development of ideas can begin to flow. Unless you have all the above well understood you are not in any position to have an audience with a car company.
Advertising is too expensive just to try things so the above process is very critical as much as it may seem very complicated/convoluted.
If you have a passion for advertising, pursue it as a career or pursue a career on the client side in marketing where you can work with the agencies. These are very different paths, but both let you work with advertising development.
