How do I find a good auctioneer?

Have contents of a house (in New England) to dispose of, many antiques, and I don't know what things are worth. Can anyone give tips on what to ask? What to avoid? What to watch out for? Thanks.

Answer:
I'd be in your shoes--and I think I'd check the Yahoo yellow pages for the area and ask around for people who have used an auctioneer in the past. I wouldn't have a clue what to ask them!
Are you a member of Angie's List? Because they're my ultimate rresource in a case like this. If they're available in the area you're doing the auction in, I think I'd join, just for that! Check www.angieslist.com to see.
