you can use an organization of your choice to examplify

Answer:
Regarding those elements. In my experience strategic management is largely wind (actually of the hot air variety), there may be occasional fire fighting but it is very rarely down to earth.

There are many elements in strategic management. Where are we now? where are we going? SWOT analysis. What is happening in our industry? - mature (cost cutting/efficiencies) or growing (investing for growth - whist controlling cash -flow), outsourcing non-core or added value activities. Where should we source our materials? What market sectors/geographic regions will be growing in future?

The other big three are past, present & future. Where are we now? How did we get there? Where are we going?
