That depends on what company. I myself spend around $300 bucks a month on online advertising. I have spent around $1000 before when I first started because that's the time when everyone in the music business has to spend the most. Online advertising isn't as expensive as brick & mortar type companies. Usually the ones with 'names' in the industry bearly have to advertise because they are already famous enough to just mention online sites and everyone will go to it.
Usually I spend advertising on major websites, and also everywhere I go. I also pay for search engine keywords & submissions etc..
