What is the best way to make money online?
It is buying and selling on ebay? .
Building web pages with advertising? .
Selling products using drop-shippers? .
Selling other people's products for commissions? .
I realize they may be all good and it might depend entirely on the individual, but I guess I am looking for the easiest and more successful ways to make money online.
I am not looking for a get rich quick scheme . tried and true processes are fine with me. I am also not interested in filling out any surveys for money either .

Great Question. Like you said it really depends on the person. Buying and selling on ebay is good if you have a product people are going to want. As far as drop-shipping it can be profitable, but I would really do my research and make sure you have a reputable company. If you'd like (I don't want to give you any links to deter you here) I can link you to a site that has a review of various popular drop-shipping companies.
Building webpages with advertising probably isn't as easy as blogging with adsense which is a similar approach, but then you're studying things like SEO (search engine optimization), etc so that you're able to keep sending large amounts of targeted traffic to you site and that's not easy either. As far as affiliate marketing (selling other people's products) again you're going to run into the traffic problem.
I'd say there's two easier ways of earning money online.
1.) Create your own product (information product - ebook perhaps) in a niche that's both popular and not over populated if that makes sense. Give your visitors something of REAL value and build from that with a lead capture page, an opt-in mailing list, etc to get some people to market your product for, and then guess what? Apply ALL of those other things. Sell the product on ebay.. Make a blog discussing the product and send people there. Make your own little network promoting that product and earn money all the various ways.
2.) The easiest way (IF you know which ones to use) is to do Multi-Level Marketing. The product is already there for you. They've already given you all the tools to promote and all you have to do is get referrals and start earning residual income. If you find one that's reputable and has great value and tools it's easy to promote and easy to make money, and then you can do #1 and use all the tools from the MLM company to promote/advertise your own product. It's all a HUGE cycle and it's a matter of putting it all together. MLM is probably the quickest way to get in the profit though and one that will ALWAYS be earning you money long after you've begun work on other ventures.

I do not know what would be the best business online. But, I know that if you have to pay money in front, it is very probably you are going to lose it. Shouldn't be the other way around. If you are going to work, they should pay you. And, if it is because they are going to tell you the greatest secret of how to make money, why not to charge you a percentage of what you are going to earn? I have not known one that it is for true. I will add, almost all home based businesses do have a small start up fee usually ranging from $50 to 200. And you're actually paying for your start up products, you're not paying to "work for them".. A month after I started I got my first commission check. I was floored! I had worked for another business before and it was nearly 2 yrs before I actually saw a commission check. So it actually depends on how much work you're willing to put into your business

I would imagine if you could find a service you could provide online (directory of something, referals for something, pictures, tips on something that is valuable information) that you could have on a webpage that you could charge a membership fee for and also advertisers could pay you to advertise on the site. It might not make as much at first as some of the things listed but over the course of time I think you probably could make more. Plus it would be steadier then selling stuff (what if no one buys more then 1 or 2 things from you one month then you're broke for that month? not a good plan) but you would need to do some research in your home area and find something with a need (like a list of qualified caregivers that have already been interviewed and background checked on a website that charges a monthly/yearly fee for access, or something along those lines) you could even do a consulting job for people new to the area, letting them know tips for jobhunting/home buying/shopping in your area also figure out if you are sort of an "expert" with something and charge for it online
I think the best way to earn money is to do it on ebay, because there is a lot of bidding, you'll never know you might have something someone else wants.

I've had a lot of experience over the past 3 years with this subject. I went through litereally 50+ different companies on the interent trying to make money while I was in college. There's sooo much crap out there and companies that promise you the world but deliver nothing but hype, it takes a while to seperate the crap from the genuine money making opportunities.
