You should take into consideration factors such as tradition, religion, and/or language (e.g. don't try to sell american ham or pork chops to a middle east country). Another factor is the influence that american culture has (or doesn't have for that matter.) over the country's own culture (e.g. Japan).
Most of the countries that consume American goods either do so because they have to (we make the only or best product), have teh volume they need, or their consumers like our brand.
